Food is integral necessity of Life.

Food is integral necessity of Life. But equally one must watch his or her own Diet to remain Healthy . The main aim of food is to contribute to a healthy state of body and mind.Food which is wholesome is Nectar while Unwholesome Diet is Poison.So it is left to ones discretion whether to have Nectar or Poison.

Ayurved suggests diet modification based on Seasonal variations as our body is influenced by the external changes.

Diet again differs from individual to individual based on the place, availability and most importantly ones constitution .So a predominantly Vat person needs to consume more of foods which are warm and spicy ,pitta needs to consume more of sweet tasting and cooler food while kapha person need to consume pungent,bitter and astringent foods. This is generalised .No one can have a single constitution .so even food is individual specific.

Food also influences mind. Thereby food is categorised into Saatvik, Raajasik and Taamasik Diet. Most of the disorders are psychosomatic i.e. it is the emotions like stress ,depression that results in various disorders . It is advised to have Saatvik diet for a balanced mind. Vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products consumed in their natural form or with little processing are good examples of satvik food.

Based on disease condition again diet differs This is popularly referred to as Pathya in Ayurved.

For a successful treatment one thus needs to give an effective Medicine with a definitive modification of Diet.
