Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means to unite.

Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means to unite. This union is with the superconsciousness.Man usually has a tendency to confine his mind to a set of boundaries thereby limiting himself without realising his full potential. Yoga is one which liberates oneself from such limitations when practised regularly. The main goal of Yoga is to maintain a healthy body and mind . The eight fold path of Yoga are .Yama(selfrestraint),Niyama(Religious observance), Asana(postures to keep the body healthy),Pranayama(to have control on breath),Pratyahara(Control of the senses),Dharana(practice of concentrtion),Dhyana(Meditation) and ultimately Samadhi(unity wit hsuperconsciouness). These practices integrate mind ,body and spirit. Yoga is not just a pattern of different postures, While practising different postures there must be complete concentration on breathing.Importantly one needs to know which postures are best suited taking into consideration ones health.

In todays fast paced scenario every individual experiences stress whether it is personal or professional . During stress we take shallow breath and eventually get used to it.This results in starvation of oxygen which is vital for the body and buildup of carbondioxide which is toxic.Pranayama helps in correcting this faulty habit. .
